The growl came again, this time more ferocious than the first. I was totally spell bound. I had never heard such a growl from any dog before.
The light from the house had cast an evil scary shadow on the dog. He did not look like my friendly pet at all. He was no longer my best friend. He looked as if he had become evil and had been possessed by some devilish force. I was afraid of him now.
All at once, the dog surched from his sitting place and was on all four paws. He turned to me, threw back his head and made a howling growling sound. My blood ran cold. He would take my life this night, I thought.
