About this Book:

Agnes Gausnell Martin left Kansas with her family in 1910 to begin life anew in Wagoner County, Oklahoma. Growing up as a prairie farmgirl, she helped her parents with the struggle to break the land and make a living. Her older sister was the "lady" of the family, and helped Mama with the housework, but Agnes was Papa's helper on the farm. Her "Tomboy" ways got her into many scrapes, but she always had a lot of fun. Her family was "poor, but never underprivileged."

About the Author:

Agnes Gausnell Martin began writing her childhood memoirs in the 1980s. Her stories of her Oklahoma childhood are full of colorful history of people and events as she remembers them. At 95 years of age, she lives alone in Marysville, California, surrounded by her large family.
