About this Book:

Mia and I became friends last summer.
I was playing the piano in our family room when I noticed
a cute little mouse on the book shelf seeming to enjoy my
Beethoven piece. She stayed as long as I continued playing
and then disappeared. “Interesting,” I thought.
I wondered whether she would show up when I practiced
the next day. Guess what? She did. Every day she came
to listen to my music, always disappearing when I stopped
playing. I started to leave treats for her on the shelf:
a slice of cheese, cake crumbs or a tiny bit of chocolate.
The mouse graciously accepted everything, but I could see
her little nose curl into a smile every time that cheese
was on the “menu”.
We enjoyed each other’s company all that summer long.
Then, for some reason, she stopped coming. I missed my little
friend, but there was nothing I could do to find out
what happened to her.
