About this Book:

First Presbyterian Church of Anaheim was founded March 6, 1870, making it the oldest Protestant church in Orange County, California. This book is written for the 140th anniversary of the church. The church was founded by twenty four citizens of Anaheim who wrote a letter to the Presbytery's director of home missions, who came from San Francisco to start the church. They soon called a pastor, who then founded the city of Westminster as well as a church there, and pastored both churches. Some of the early members include the first merchant in Anaheim, the first woman to graduate from Stanford Medical School, farmers, doctors, and craftsmen. The church survived an economic depression in the area, fought the Klan when they tried to take over Anaheim, and continues to serve the community and the world to this day.

About the Author:

Alan Lopez is a deacon at First Presbyterian, and searched the church records, early Anaheim newspapers, and other original documents to find the history of the church for the 140th anniversary.
