Grandpa Brown is slowing down. What a productive work crew Dad has raised! Did Mom set the dreaded dentist straight? What a great big ocean! Joe, the dreamer, keeps on dreaming. The country Christmas’ continue in the Brown home. Joe makes the Basketball team. Why is Dad losing his workers one at a time? Sandy, the best dog ever, dies! The senior year is filled with football, basketball, Washington trip, class play, class night, athletic banquet and finally graduation.

The author is a semi retired businessman, who was born on a sharecropper’s farm and at an early age moved to live on their own farm. He was educated in a small rural school. He played football, basketball and baseball whenever farm work permitted. His dream was to be a major league baseball player. He served in the US Army and attended Guilford College on the GI bill while working full time. He owned and operated his own manufacturing business for 40 years. He has been active in church and has been a volunteer coach for many years. He is married and has 4 children and 4 grandchildren.
