About this Book:

The 35 free verse poems in ICE FISHING represent the author's ability to plumb the depths of situations and relationships and examine them symbolically in language. The climate of Alaska and the lives of fisherman infiltrate these lines, especially in "End of the Fishing Season - Ninilchik, Alaska," "The Ice Man," "Alaska Highway," and in the title poem.

About the Author:

FRANK KOOISTRA crewed on salmon-fishing boats in Cook Inlet, Alaska, while earning a doctorate from the northernmost institution he could find, the University of Alberta in Edmonton (Canada). A graduate of Kenyon College in Ohio, he has written poetry for about 10 years, preferring creative writing to scholarship. He has been an adjunct professor in the Kent State University regional campus system since 1989.
