About this Book:

Fourteen-year-old Allison and her eight-year-old brother Caleb are desperate for a pet. But their father is completely against the idea. He's more concerned about a clean house than his children's happiness. A pet would just mess up his life. Eventually, the children's mother engineers a plan: Her husband gets a new set of golf clubs and the children end up with their desired pets.
'Allison loves her dog, a fluffy Pomeranian - even though a static electricity condition prevents her from actually petting it. Caleb prefers his pet goldfish who he decides to take for a walk - well, we all know a fish out of water is not a good idea and so ensues many interesting escapades that involve a decaying but well-loved dead fish.' - Children's Book Review

PALMETTO REVIEW: 'In many respects, the dialogue reads much like what you'd expect in an episode of Seinfeld or a Tarantino film, except the author does an excellent job of modifying that stylized conversational motif to language and subject matter suitable for middle readers.'
PUBLISHERS SERVICES: 'Each chapter rides a fine line between whimsically unique and downright creepy. A reader gets the sense that this is a novel written in a bit of a gothic style with a twist or two of science fiction, like that of Neil Gaiman or even Shel Silverstein - which is a fascinating accomplishment in a middle grade market.'
