About this Book:
GIRL WITH A COUNTRY is a book of freedom poems written in 1980 during a period of time when my life was completely shattered. I lived in the Cabrini Green Apartment Complex, in Chicago, Illinois. As my family and I, and the many residents tried to survive, with the sudden, repeated assaults, as punks invaded the buildings with the boldness of the enemy attacking in a war; the constant bam, bam, bam of real bullets, that often found their mark as our cries for help went unheeded. Writing became my outlet as I lost faith in a system that seems not to care the plight of the poor. Thus, I named myself, "GIRL WITHOUT A COUNTRY"!

COMMENTS FROM A CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHER:
I appreciate you allowing me to review your wonderful book of poetry! I think students would enjoy your poems. You might want to make a program out of it! I think that would be a greater marketing tool and a good resource for teachers and students. Once again, I appreciate you giving me a chance to read you book!
