About this Book:
|
|
The memories of rural Cordova are long gone but not the memories that were recorded from the old folks back in 1987. They tell about traveling by horse and buggy, riding to school in wagonettes, making their own feather mattresses, making lye soap, washing clothes in a pot with a scrub board, giving birth at home and life before telephones, electricity, the coming of the railroad and automobiles. The memories of the past still linger in the minds of the elderly. Sawyer and Wadell published Forgotten Days of Farms, Flowers and Fellowship allowing those that lived them to share their stories.

Book Review:

I learned so much that I did not know, and would never have known, had this wonderful book not come into existence. Since I've had the book I have hardly been able to put it down. Shortly after purchasing it I went back to buy a second copy for my brother, for whom I knew it would become a treasure as well. In short it is like taking a trip back in time. ~ Fred Morgan
This is one keepsake that you won't relegate to a bookshelf. It isn't just a ho-hum, "dry" history of the area, but a lovingly written, colorful glimpse into the early families that settled and continued to live in the area. Believe me, it's worth every cent -- and surely you can give up a couple of meals at a restaurant in exchange for something you and the family will treasure in years to come. ~ Joseph Baker
Half of what I'm reading is reminiscing and the other half I didn't even know. This book is the most comprehensive coverage of the Cordova area for the past 200 years. ~ John Garrison
