All across our country private and non private schools alike are in the midst of a crisis. As our school populations become more diverse and challenging, many teachers, new and seasoned, find themselves unprepared to reach the "at risk" population rapidly populating our schools today. Frustrated, bright, but improperly diagnosed students are failing. Well educated teachers are exiting the field. Certainly professional development has and continues to be required by most school districts, but why is it falling short? Why do low performance outcomes persist? Why are so many teachers exiting? Using my cross cultural experiences as a basis, "Crossing Boundaries to Professional Development" presents a very important ingredient missing from our traditional professional development sessions and the path that leads to obtaining it. "Crossing Boundaries to Professional Development" provides hope to both private and non private school educators, administrators, students, and parents.

Dr. Roberta Jackson served in full time missions to Liberia, West Africa for 13.5 years along with her husband under the direction of Carver International Missions, a missions organization based in Atlanta, GA. While in Liberia, Dr. Jackson taught English and literature to Academy juniors and seniors. She also served as an English instructor in the Monrovia Bible Institute and the Monrovia Bible College (a college issuing Bachelor degrees in Theology and Christian Education). After leaving the foreign field, Dr. Jackson taught first grade at Destiny Learning Academy in Philadelphia, PA. and later served as the Assistant & Acting Executive Director of Destiny Learning Academy and Creative World Learing Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Jackson is a member of Christian Stronghold Church in Philadelphia, PA.
