About this Book:

Part history, part health, part prayer and part recipe, Cooking with New Hope is more than a cookbook. This recipe collection includes more than 600 delicious family favorites from members and friends of New Hope Presbyterian Church. The book also touches upon the fascinating background which preceded the founding of New Hope by Scots-Irish immigrants from Pennsylvania--well before the Revolutionary War. There are occasional comments about the history of the recipes submitted, and interesting nutrition information and resources for staying healthy are available throughout the book. Beautiful prayers, poems and inspirational quotes for daily living complement the volume. Reflecting the heritage of the Presbyterian faith and many of our members, the book includes facts about Scots-Irish cooking, famous for its scones, shortbread, oatmeal, potato pancakes and more. Other contributions from our members and friends represent the American South, Yankee New England, the Great Midwest, the Southwest, the Pacific Northwest and other regions. International recipes are also included.

About the Author:

Edited by a registered dietitian, the Congregational Care and Life Committee of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill, NC has compiled this collection of over 6oo recipes.
