About this Book:

In 1857, Fletcher Guyman inherited a farm from an uncle. When he went to his new community near Jefferson City, Missouri, he found the community closed to outsiders. To assist his lonliness Fletcher adopted a young Irish orphan from the orphan train. The young man has a twin sister who remains in New York City, but Fletcher doesn't have that information.

About the Author:

Anita L. Allee lives with her husband on a small farm at the edge of a small historic town, bordering on the Ozark Plateau of Missouri. Anita has a BS Degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia. She is the mother of two grown daughters and has five grandchildren.

Book Review:

"No friends, loneliness, hard work! What do they expect of a new neighbor? young Fletcher Guyman upbraided himself in frustration. He didn't know that his young Irish ward from the orphan train carried extra baggage. When all seems peaceful, secession raises her ugly head to threaten Farwell, Missouri. Civil War erupts in Missouri displacing the plans of every young man. North or South, this is the decision.
