About this Book:

The account provides a unique image of Brookfield Township, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, from the 1830s-1920s. The author has spent thousands of hours and several years gathering material for this new two volume, 480 pagee book, combining the use of newspaper accounts, memoirs, photographs, recollections, letters, published and unpublished manuscripts, legal documents and biographies. What he uncovered was a rich history of a community of people who stuggled, suffered, and yet found humor and joy all around them.

About the Author:

Thomas Ramstack is a 54 year old Special Education teacher at Milwaukee Hamilton High School. His family owned a tavern in Elm Grove dating to 1881 and a farm in Broofield dating to 1844. The inspiration for this account arose from the numerous tales told to him by his father, Joseoph Ramstack Jr., about life in Elm Grove and Brookfield during the 1920s and 1930s.
