Jim's love of literature and American history, and his own world experiences, have made him a skilled narrator. He and I have enjoyed storytelling and research ever since Tarzan. Which brings me to this book.
In his detailed memoir, Anecdotes & Reminiscences: Humorous Experiences from a Forty Year Career as a Field Sales Engineer, Jim recalls a pre-internet time—now rapidly fading from our view—when salesmen didn't have cell phones, computers, or Google maps, and they prospected or made sales only by driving to visit clients.
This book is an abundant collection of misunderstandings, strange situations, and some dangerous faux pas, blunders, quirky clients, necktie incidents.
Drawing on his extensive career in fluid power sales, Jim takes us through many unfamiliar and awkward situations in pre-OSHA California, Oregon, Texas, Louisiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Georgia.
Through Jim's amusing narrative, we meet mining engineers, naval architects, prank-pulling foremen, gatekeepers
