A Nation Under Siege is mainly about Nigeria, a country on the West Coast of Africa. The book opens with a narration of the main character's struggles for integration into mainstream America, and her desire to visit her country of origin. Through her travel experiences, she presents a comparative description of Nigeria in the past decades and modern day Nigeria. Nigerian politics is far from the ideals of democracy. Criminal elements have overrun the nation and law enforcement is helpless to respond. Poverty, kidnapping, and corruption are everywhere. The final chapters in the book proffer solutions for solving Nigeria's problems only if all Nigerians are willing to make a commitment.
