About this Book:

Americans believe in God. Over 90% of us consistently tell pollsters that we believe. Despite this widespread affirmation of faith, many of us doubt. Do you know someone who doubts? Why does our age breed doubt and disbelief instead of faith? Why are “non-believers” the fastest growing segment of the population? To satisfy these skeptics, theoligians after the Reformation have relied on the concept of inspiration – and thus God’s guarantee of the accuracy – of Scripture. That project has failed. That reliance on written revelation has led to an intellectual dead end, and to the widespread agnosticism we see today. “Modernist Christianity” has failed to defend the truth claims of Christianity against the challenges of modernity. Nevertheless, I see signs that faith itself reflects objective reality. I remain hopeful that we can develop a new, non-modern approach to faith that we will find both spiritually satisfying and intellectually credible.
