About this Book:

The Seven Years War started in North America in two small military engagements. Following these military affairs, England released its naval power to isolate Canada and its land forces to take control of Canada. The theater of war would be referred to by Canadians as the War of the Conquest. England and its colonies were intent on defeating the French in Canada. The French government provided inadequate ground or naval power to resist the British. The small French army that was in Canada was forced to use Indian allies and civilian-militia forces to increase its fighting strength. Between the war years, Acadians were deported to various New England colonies, Canadian non-combatant men were taken captive as a military precaution, and militiamen were taken prisoner. The study contained in this document attempts to discover some of those individuals. A 1762 letter authored by Governor-General James Murray enables and encourages us to discover them.
