About this Book:
|
|
Late in the war Alex Svoboda and the rest of the boys in his Austrian eighth grade class are drafted and sent to boot camp on their way to the Eastern Front.
Naïve and excited to get into the action Alex and the boys are quickly relieved of any notion of the adventure, romance and the heroics of war. One by one Alex’s classmates fall as the deafening weapons of the battle field expose the brutality of war and the unlikely chances of surviving for another day, another minute.

By Jim Boynton on December 30, 2013
Format: Kindle Edition
As a high school history teacher I have read many biographies from the WWII era, and this stands out as among the best. It gives a unique perspective from the German side not often seen. …it held my attention as well as "Unbroken," and the story is every bit as engaging.
