About this Book:

The dream of the founding fathers’ has documented in chronologicalsequence, the record of the origin and foundation of Nigeria as the British colonizers made its initial move that annexed Lagos Island as a British colony on January 1, 1862. As the process of integrating the two major protectorates, (Northern and Southern protectorates) which were amalgamated in 1914 became obvious, the British through the efforts of Frederick Lugard and his staff strived to unite the conglomerated protectorates, though with various resentments and success. During its ninety-eight years attempt to build a strong united force that would one day champion the cause of the continent of Africa, and out of the intense struggle with obvious fights, sentiments and sometimes disorderliness like the 1929 Aba Women Riot and many other such resentments, a new country was born on October 1, 1960. A unique strructure was put in place by the Colonizing fathers’, the British as they contributed in the election of the first indigenous leaders with a Prime Minister, President and the four regional Premiers.

About the Author:

Book Review:

The dreams of the of the founding fathers’ whose selfless efforts and contributions towards the emancipation of Nigeria from the British was to build a strong united nation who by 52 would not only be economically viable but also politically consistent in its decision towards national development. They never thought nor negotiated that at 52, Nigeria would become a failed state when discussed from the global perspectives in regards to economic, political and social development vantage points. The dreams and vision for a stronger Nigeria at independence seem to have eroded as fraudulent and endemic corrupt practices drastically affect the economic well-being of the nation thereby stagnating its growth and development. A dream by the founding fathers’ which was based on a smooth-ride after fifty-two years had rather perpetuated a decadence of the nation’s core values bastardized deliberately with impunity without care
