About this Book:

My People’s Journey documented most epoch making events from 1930 through 2006 in Umunakara community in Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. It cataloged diverse historical collections of issues and happenings in Umunakara that are very conspicuously unique and pertinent in the understanding of a people’s effort to develop their community and the story behind their existence. It also showcased some pictorial representation of people, events, groups, committees and geographical directions necessary to understand the community. The author gleaned through significant data and explored various observations on most of the crucial making events that are necessary to be recorded for historical reasons. He looked at various associations and youth group that had existed in the community and used the book opportunity to present their mission as they work towards their respective association’s aspirations to attract development in divergent perspectives.

My People’s Journey (1930-2006): A retrospect of Epoch-Making Events is a rich and detailed book about the history of the Igbo people of Umunakara, Isu, whose ancestral homeland , along with three other sister Isu communities ( Umuozu, Umuorlu, Dim-na-Nume) is located geopolitically in Nwangele local government area of Imo State in Southeast Nigeria. The author, Chief (Dr) Cosmas Uchenna Nwokeafor, an accomplished scholar and dean of the Graduate School at Bowie State University, Maryland USA, a chief and a leading light of Umunakara community, takes us comprehensively, lucidly and elegantly through the following: the origins of Umunakara and her sister Isu communities.
