Doreen Nykamp was brought up on a farm in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She compiled the stories she has heard of her grandmother and great-grandmother into this wonderful and yet tragic tale. She attended Calvin college and majored in Speech - a true story teller to engage the reader as if they were living the moment. She is a mother and grandmother, married for 39 years and resides in Portage, Michigan.
