WHO IS OLD LADY FLUTE?
Old Lady Flute was my father’s nickname for me. My dear father evidently had a weird sense of humor. As the story goes the first time he saw me, he said “Good God Almighty! She looks like an old lady!” That’s because my little baby face was puckered and wrinkled. Aren’t all babies wrinkled?
If this wasn’t bad enough, I developed a strange talent for producing musical “toots” from my bottom. Daddy said it sounded like a flute. I’m happy to say I outgrew this habit, but not before my father came up with the nickname for me. He would say, “There goes Old Lady Flute again. She sure can toot.”
