About this Book:

Basic Concepts in Mathematics for the Pre-Algebra Student was written for returning adult students. The text is in a workbook format. Each topic is introduced with several examples followed by a classwork and homework set of practice problems. This text was written to help the returning student to enhance their understanding of such topics as: Operations in the base 10 number system, fractions, decimals, percents, ratio and proportions, and one step equation solving. The text emphasizes the connection to algabra whenever possible. This book may be used as a class text book or for a self study course.

About the Author:

Kathleen Long holds BS and MS degrees in Mathematics and Mathematics Education. She has taught in the public school system for 3 years and has taught developmental and credit mathematics for for Brookhaven College in the Dallas Co. Comm. College system as a full time faculty member since 2000.
