About this Book:

The author has traced the life of a man, Ezekiel Buffington 1740-1819, by documenting unobtrusively each time his name occurs in extant records. The agon of this novel is the conflict resulting from a man's upbringing and the ensuing events in his life. Raised a Quaker in PA with the no fighting onus he becomes a trader to the Cherokee in a century which engaged in one war after another. The secondary theme is love for his family. A motif is the strength he derives from his first wife whose name we do not know. Those interested in the development of the south in ethics, both religious and philosophical, and of a small love story will like this book.

About the Author:

Now, an octogenarian, the author has taught school in Georgia all her life. Her undergraduate degree was from Agnes Scott in English and French and a minor in Classical Greek. Her Emory Master's degree was in Latin. She has taught English or Latin on the college level (GSU, Oglethorpe) and high school levels (Fulton and DeKalb Counties and the City of Atlanta). She lives in Duluth, Georgia. She enjoys reading and genealogy.
