About this Book:

The Temple Builders vividly portrays the seemingly endless war between Ireland and England, as seen and felt through the eyes and emotions of a wide range of characters. Wealthy English Landlords with their vast estates; the impoverished Irish Cotters struggling to eke out an existance; the Catholic Priests confronting almost hopeless odds as they shepherded their congregation through ordeal after ordeal. To this mix, throw in the British Parliament; greedy merchants; soldiers in Colonial India; local sea Captains; a few rogues; and looming over everything, the ever present chance of a massive potato crop failure. This book is decidedly not a typical novel, and has captivated everyone who has read it. The Temple Builders is a story that will draw you in; a book whose characters will live on in your memory long after you have closed the cover.

About the Author:

Although this is his first novel, Loyst R. Streeter is not new to writing having published other books, written numerous stories; articles; and plays. He is currently working on his next novel at his home in Sublimity, Oregon.

Book Review:

The Temple Builders covers the period from 1830 through 1849; momentous years that witnessed the British Parliament enact several pieces of legislation that had a major, and sometimes devastating, impact on Ireland. Not only was Ireland battered by England, its neighbor to the south, but at times it appeared to be assulted by heaven itself with repeated crop failures. In 1848-49, the great Potato Blight brought the Nation to its knees, triggering an exodus which forever changed the Nation.
