Vacationing at family resorts was part of a lifestyle that was prevalent in northern Wisconsin for a hundred years. Those resorts and that form of recreation and life has all but disappeared during the past twenty years as the family resorts have been sold and torn down to make room for lake shore development. This book tells about life and vacationing in northern Wisconsin's Indianhead resort area through stories and interviews. Included in the volume are hundreds of old photographs that lead the reader on a trip back to a time when thousands of families visited the lakes, rivers and forests of northern Wisconsin. Included are interviews with lifelong residents of the area, a long-time fishing and river guide, as well as personal stories and memories of the author.

About the Author:

Michael Posso was born and raised in northern Wisconsin. He grew up on a lake at a small resort north of the town of Spooner. After graduating from Dixie College in St. George, Utah, Michael completed a year long natural history and environmental writing internship at Cable Natural History Museum in Cable, Wisconsin. His essays and short stories have been published in many local and regional publications. He is currently working on a series of children's books with the very talented Wisconsin illustrator, Lori Allard. The "Jake The Cranberry Dog" children's books will be published during summer, 2006. Michael, his wife Allison, and their four sons live on the Yellow River in Spooner, Wisconsin.
