There are people who think poetry isn’t something they are interested in because they haven’t been exposed to poetry they can relate to or even understand. There is so much poetry out there that is too academic and uses words ordinary people have never heard before. There is also poetry that may be very meaningful to the person writing it, but may seem to be random babbling to others. I think that is why poetry often has a limited reach. I believe Poems from the Heart fills a void. There isn’t quite anything like it, that offers deep, inspiring, quality, heart-touching, meaningful, and understandable poems that can have a much broader appeal and that people in general can appreciate and relate to. Also unique about Poems from the Heart is that it encourages the reader to try his or her own hand at writing poetry by offering a journal with 5 different exercises that, if nothing else, will get the reader started on the path of learning how to express themselves in writing.

I went to college at Moody Bible Institute where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Bible-Theology. My time studying the Bible made me more literary-minded. I began writing a lot, sermons and mini-sermons for children, youth and adults at church. Through that I discovered how much I enjoyed creative writing. I also began writing poems for my grandma every year for her birthday. This past year is when I really began to realize that poetry is a gift of mine. Over time I began to write a poem or two every week. Though poetry is a hobby I have done many other things to make a living. I have worked at a church, I have worked with autistic kids, and I’m now a substitute school teacher and a pizza delivery man. I was born in Chicago, IL and have lived there most of my life.
