About this Book:

The first collection from Los Angeles poet Damien Stednitz. Collects numerous poems that are performed during his various spoken word readings around the LA area, including his two poems that were highlighted in the e-zine "Poetry Superhighway". "On the Rise, I Guess" is filled with pop culture, love, insecurities as well as meditations on Elvis, Ipods, Tivo, leaving the mid-west and entering into the fray that is Los Angeles.

About the Author:

Damien Stednitz is a 29-year old transplant from Nebraska who ran to the coast as soon as he could. While in the mid-west, Damien won numerous poetry interpretation competitions throughout his high school and college years. His senior year of college he was named Nebraska State Poetry Champion. His work has been featured in the Nebraska Wesleyan literary journal the “Flintlock”. He also was selected as featured poet in the poetry e-Zine Poetry Superhighway in March of 2006. Stednitz claims opening up poetry to a wider audience is one of his main goals in writing and reading “I want to make poetry that is more accessible to everyone, not just English majors.” Stednitz’s influences include: Dylan Thomas, Charles Bukowski and anything his Tivo or his IPod throw his way. Currently, Stednitz lives in Los Angeles: haunting any poetry readings he can find, and looking for any and all publication opportunities.
