About this Book:

The Brotherhood of Dismas is an inspiring story about a prison inmate who wants to change his life and the life of other inmates by establishing an order of Benedictine monks within the walls of a prison. We follow the inmate through the slow tedious process of making his dream a reality. It begins with his vow of poverty and concludes with the formation of the order and completion of the Abbey. This book will provide reading enjoyment for those looking for the inspirational story of great odds being systemically overcome. A person looking at a true to life story of the inner workings of a state prison will find an authentic setting. The followers of religious literature and the world of an active monastery will be pleased with the insight this story brings.

About the Author:

My experience being a Correctional Officer and an Ordained Minister have given me a dual view and insight of prison procedure and religious orders. I have often wondered if a working monastery could be started by one or more devoted inmates. I have studied the many regulations of both the prison and various churches. Many inmates will show great religious conviction in order to gain favor with visiting missionaries. There are a few inmates, which truly have become faithful followers of their chosen religion. This book was written to tell their stories through the character of inmate Francis.
