Donald W. Fiskewold was raised on the iron range in Pengilly, Minnesota. He married Marilyn A. Stuntebeck and raised eight children, and now lives in Blaine, Minnesota with his daughter Lisa. He has also published a children's book called Valakri, about a little reindeer born on Christmas Eve.
