About the Author:

J. D. Uponen has been teaching music for over two decades. His Bachelor’s Degree is from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, where he majored in Vocal Music. In 1995, he earned a Master of Arts in Education from Century University of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He has lived in Alaska since 1983, where he moved with his wife, Lori Pleshe. With their two children, Rachael and Ian, they’ve made Kenai their home.
Since that time, Lori and J. D. have produced numerous recordings including 1987’s popular “Brown Bear Boogie” with the accompanying activity book. They’ve also worked as performers and clinicians at educational workshops.
