About this Book:

Fourteen-year-old Mickey Barnes' world is centered in comic books and TV until he must learn to survive being lost in the Rocky Mountains. At first tolerating his brother's Golden Retriever, Mickey and Sportin' Life learn to depend on each other's friendship as knowledge and experience gradually replace instinct and intuition. Life-threatening adventures change their views of society, and after living in the wilderness for eleven months the return to civilization brings a new challenge.

About the Author:

Betsy Goodspeed is a retired television performer who wrote, produced and starred on shows in LA, Denver and Indianapolis. She worked with showbiz icons such as Jack Benny, Doris Day and Lawrence Welk. Recordings that were made with Spike Jones are regarded as classics. Writing novels began as a hobby, and The Reluctant Mountaineer is the first of a dozen to come.
