Roy Hamilton is a native of Wauhillau, Adair County, Oklahoma. He grew up in the same area his ancestors came to after arriving over the Trail of Tears in 1839. He attended the University of Oklahoma and Northeastern State University. But, he returned home to Wauhillau to write.
