Frank Luke: the September Rampage, is the first biography on Lt Frank Luke in over 40yr. It corrects many errors written about Luke and the U S Air Service (USAS) contained in previous bios.
Luke was one of but four American airmen awarded (posthumously) the Congressional Medal of Honor during the 1914–18 war in Europe. At the time of his death, he was the leading USAS Ace.
Luke's successful combats against heavily defended German observation balloons paved the way to success of the final American offensive (Meuse-Argonne) against the Germans, which led to the end of that war.
Frank Luke is the state hero of Arizona. His statue stands outside the State House, and Luke AFB is named after him.
The author and his son have written a screenplay on Luke's military career and are working to have it made into a feature movie.
