Troy Wye Pritt tells about growing up in a small town in West Virginia after the First World War. He tells about the first washing machine, telephone, radio, electric light, automobile in their family. He tell of the hardships he observed during the drought and the Depression. He also tells about the things he and his pals did forfun. He grew up around the railroad (his father was a track foreman for 50 years) and worked first as a lobby hog and then as a machinist apprentice on the Western Maryland Railway. Later, he was a machinist on the B&O and ACL.
