About this Book: |
|
I have wanted to write the history of my family in North America for some time. In writing this book, I included not only my Reid and Harrison families, but also my allied families of Anderson, Bailey, Brooks, Butler, Bryant, Dillard, Frazier, O’Neal, Pitts, Reece, Richardson, Tolleson, and Walker. I also included a special section on my wife’s family of Dilts, Eells, Loss, Mooney, Smith, and Spinks.
Their story began with their arrival in the English colonies of North America. They came primarily from Scotland, England, and Ireland for a host of reasons. Most of them arrived in North America in poor circumstances. One was an indenture servant, but through his own industry became quite wealthy. A few arrived with wealth, bought property and became influential in their communities.
In writing this book, I was a factual as possible. I have included photocopies of key documents proving relationships and events enumerated in the book for the reader’s convenience. Any interested person my contact the author for an explanation of these proofs, where the originals may be found and other particulars.
