Ms. Tillim wrote Katie's Choice primarily for middle school children of inter-faith marriages who are searching for answers to their religious dilemmas. She shows the strenghths and differences mainly between Judaism and Christianity, hoping to leave the reader with genuine feelings of tolerance towards all people.
Janet Nassau Tillim also published an adult book of fiction, The Other Side of the Coin, in 2004. The story is based on the lives of two diverse women living on different continents, who meet when their children marry. One beautiful woman is raised in the lap of luxury while the other, a plain looking woman, struggles with poverty as she learns to make something of herself.
