About the Author:

The late and distinguished Dr. James Harry Turner began this compilation from his own childhood in the North Georgia Mountains. These rich folk tales and their charming dialect were fading into oblivion until Dr. Turner sought to save them for posterity. He inspired his son Dr. Joseph Blair Turner to continue the collection into modern times, and from across all of Southern Appalachia.
