About the Author: |
Clarence B. Franke (1912 - 1981) grew up working cattle on horseback and farming on his father's ranch west of Uvalde, Texas. In 1947, he moved with his wife, Mary Lee Franke, to a farm nearer Uvalde, where they raised their five children. His deep trust in God's grace through faith in Christ permeates his writing as it did his life.

Book Review: |
This collection of poems, left unpublished at the time of the author’s death, now makes up the fourth book of his poetry. It deals with nature, observations about sin and God’s grace, and anecdotes from his life. Many of these writings are windows into his struggle with cancer. The Witnessing Cowboy’s mission, in his own words: “I gave a book away one day, Not finished? the fellow said; But let me share my life out there before my obituary is read!”
