About this Book:

Luke was a Greek and the Greeks seek after wisdom. This characteristic is a great asset when you are searching out an all wise God. Truth is your goal and you have a mind to know truth. Luke was a beloved physician. He studied medicine. That puts him on a continual stretch. There is always a need to find more cures and Luke was looking. When Paul introduced him to Jesus a new pattern developed in his mind. Luke saw that the word of God was like a medicine. As medicine would heal his body so the word of God would heal the spirit of a man. Man’s greatest need is for something that can heal his mind. The details for living are formed in the mind. We need better thinking to produce better living. When Luke heard Paul he found what he always wanted in medicine. Luke needed something to heal the mind of a sick person and here it was, the word of God. Doctor Luke had found a cure.

About the Author:

Albert Friend is a 76 year old retired pastor but not a retired minister. He lives in Hamilton, Ohio with his wife Jean. Inspired by many years of Bible Study he has chosen to write about the things in the Bible that are most important. For example: Luke stands out because he wrote the book of Acts. The book of Acts tells us the story of early church history. Some things do not change so the world needs to hear it again. Albert Friend wants to tell the story again, just like it happened. The author is publishing a newsletter called The Apostolic Cutting Edge. It is a publication designed to build faith in the sincere heart living for God on the cutting edge of life. God is just out ahead of the cutting edge inspiring us on. His mercies are awaiting our approach.

Gods First Mission was Theophilus Theophilus was so important to God that He put in the heart of Luke the burden of gathering all the information in the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts. God loved Theophilus so much that two books of His Bible were written to him. Wow. What a God! But what was directed to Theophilus was intended for us and all Gentiles. God’s Second Mission was Us. God’s second mission was to preserve Luke’s books for us in our day. Through the dark ages when people burned the Bible God kept His eye on a good copy. Today we have a Bible that is still the infallible Word of God. The Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles are part of it and preserved for you and me. Theophilus is gone and Luke is gone but Jesus Christ is still alive and He is the God of the Bible.
