About the Author: |

William L. Traxel inherited an interest in geology from his father who was a member of the American Gem Society. Among William's prize collections are rocks and minerals that his father collected in the 1930s. William is a graduate of Northwestern University, Vanderbilt University Medical School, and he has had specialty training at the University of Michigan. After his retirement from medicine in 1998, he took up writing in addition to a lifelong interest in geology. Notes on Earth Science is his fourth publication and his second textbook.
