Parting Waves is written for adults with the child in mind. Flavored with hope and enchanment felt in the wings of friendship, the story captures the delicate emotions of a young seagull, Alexandra, who is attempting to make sense of her parents separation. Like many children who experience the strong feelings that surround divorce, Alexandra wants to fly away and avoid what she must face. As she is about to fly away Alexandra is startled by another seagull who stops her from leaving. A friendship develops between the two gulls as they help each other through difficult times. Alexandra shares with Chris many of her fears. For example she says to Chris as she refers to her parents separating, " I hope that in their separateness they find room for me." The journey continues as the two gulls adventure with the Parting Waves.
