About this Book:

This second edition of “Chalking It Up To Experience” has instituted a number of changes based on the work of preservice and inservice teachers, college and university faculty, and the literacy/research base of learned societies in education and psychology. Two new chapters have been added (Evaluation and Assessment and Understanding Students and Your Subject) and all chapters have been updated and revised to meet the needs of tomorrow’s classrooms. Each chapter provides a variety of resources (books, journals, and web sites) for further research on each topic. This book is designed intentionally to be very concise, a jumping off point for preservice, new and inservice teachers. There are no in-depth topics because we wanted both new and experienced teachers to have a tool that is arranged simply and provides important information quickly at those times when swift, well thought out and well practiced ideas are needed.

About the Author:

Perry and Vivian Castelli have taught in Ohio, Maryland, Alabama, North Carolina and presently in Florida. They have taught students across all of the grade levels from elementary through graduate. Perry Castelli has served as Coordinator of Secondary Education for Troy State University, Troy, Alabama; Dean of Education for Barton College, Wilson, North Carolina; and presently is Chair of the Education Department of Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida. Vivian Castelli is presently working for Polk County Schools as the Coordinator of Alternative Certification. Both have served in leadership rolls in educational organizations such Phi Delta Kappa. They hope to help others by sharing some of their experiences gleaned over many years of teaching.
