About this Book: |
|
Waggin'Tales consists of eight stories that were inspired by our grandchildren. They are amusing. They are heartwarming. They are fun for adults to read to children. There is an underlying moral that most of us realize children should be aware of. How to treat animals and how to love and be loved is shown by example. This seems to be a very effective way for children to learn. There are quotes that have come from the mouths of my grandchildren, such as Peaches saying, "I get lonesome for wrinkles." "Is that what you call Grandma?" Her mother asked. "No, but the nursing home is the only place I see wrinkles!" These stories are real life and it is my hope they will stir the imagination of all the people who read them.

About the Author: |
|
I was seven years old when the bank failed in 1929 so I have vivid memories of living through many life experiences. My husband, Frank, and I had three children and were married 50 years before he passed away in 1996. During all those years I thought I had the soul of a writer and would scribble notes but I never seemed to have the time to develop them into a finished product. Since 1996 I have written my recollections of the Depression years and many essays on my thoughts and daily happenings. Poetry will always be a way to express my deepest emotions. 'Dude' was such an endearing character that I expanded his story from Waggin" Tales into an epic story. "Ways To Grieve" includes suggestions to help seniors understand the grieving process.

Waggin' Tales is a collection of mostly animals stories. "Dude" is a story about a hound pup growing up and his lady friend who became Mrs. Dude! "Muffin" is about how two children found a new family member at the animal shelter. Written in Muffin's voice, it is also about the struggle of blending families when the single mother remarries. "Blondie" was a white mouse that lived with Jeremy. Blondie tells of life in an aqaurium and the tricks she played on Max, a big fat cat that also lived in the home. "The New Family on Bryant Street" is a daily diary of Moocher, a mother squirrel and her new babies. In "Is Today Thursday?" Peaches can't wait to go to the nursing home to see"wrinkles". "Apple Dumpling" is a Christmas story in October. Grandma visits and they make apple dumplings for Christmas Eve. "Grim Tales" is a collection of mouse stores told by Great Granpa Mouse.
