About this Book:

Jill Upton is ten years old the the thing she wants most in life is a horse. Not just any horse, but a wild mustang foal that has been injured during a battle between two wild stallions. Her father forbids her to go near the mustang, but Jill slips out of the house and rescues the foal. Her father is furious but allows her to nurse the injured foal to health with the understanding that it will be realease to the herd, once it's injuries have healed. During this two-week period, Jill bonds with the filly and is brokenhearted to see it trot back to the herd. Miraculously, two years later, the same horse, now carrying a foal of her own, reappears, abused and frightened. Jill isn't sure if the mare remembers her. The unruly snorting mustang mare paws the ground with one hoof, lowers her head and looks at Jill. Their eyes meet....

About the Author:

Meet Janie N. Hansen, author of The Mustang Who Loved Me. She and her husband live in a remote high desert area of northeastern California with their horses and cowdog. Janie loves the solitude and enjoys observing the wildlife, in particular, the herds of wild mustang horses. This novel was sparked from her recent personal experience with a less than desirable wild mustang mare. She took the quivering unruly horse in, slowly and gently handled her with kindness and soft spoken words. When the mare no longer shook with fright, a lasting trust and love developed between her and the horse she named Ginger. The experience between her and Ginger was so moving and tender that she was compelled to share her story, but from a young girl's point of view in this novel.
