Bridges At The Foot Of The Rapids is the first extensively researched, fully-documented, illustrated history of the fords, ferries and bridges between Maumee and Perrysburg, Ohio. Covering the history of Foot of the Rapids crossings, structures and events from pre-historic Native American Indian times to the dedication of the 2002 Fort Meigs Memorial Bridge, this volume is replete with historical photographs, sketches and descriptions of vehicular, rail and interurban railway bridges. Sketches and biographies of the early toll bridge owners are included as well as bridge location maps and construction drawings. More than 500 color photographs document the construction of the 2002 Fort Meigs Memorial Bridge and several hundred newspaper articles from 1839 to 2003 document bridge area events. Gary is a retired professional engineer with a long-time interest in local history. He graduated from the University of Toledo and is married with two grown children. Since early retirement in 1998, he has been able to devote more time to his hobbies of local history, reading, fishing, kayaking, piano, nature, computers, travel and genealogy. He is a member of The Ohio Historical Society, Historic Perrysburg, Inc., and is a founding member of the Perrysburg Historical Museum Society.
