About this Book: |
|
Why I’m not married is the story of a man’s search for love, from the alleys of Tehran to the dazzling Saturday nights of Sunset Boulevard, a love that he has been searching for since childhood but has never found.
Atta, who is now in his thirties, shares his memories and ideas about girls, love and marriage, as well as the evolution of his thoughts and the events that have shaped his character, personality and status, from his young days as a Baha’i child in the Islamic Republic of Iran, to the present time in Los Angeles.

Book Review: |

When the curious four-year-old Atta asked his mother if he too would get married, she told him, “Of course, everybody gets married one day.” He was told that he just needed to wait till he got older. Now, however, in his thirties, that hopeful child is lonely and feels that nobody wants him.
It may look like a simple story at times, but the discussions he brings up often go much deeper. Although Atta’s experiences are mostly unfamiliar for Americans, some of his trials and tribulations, such as loneliness and the need for love, are universal issues that people of various cultures can identify with.
Why I’m not married is an engaging and thought-provoking story that leaves its mental mark.
