News Release Others Did It So Can You! Steven King and his brother David published their own newspaper at the age of eleven, collaborated with a friend to self-publish a book of 18 short stories when he was in high school, then a year later (in 1966) started his own small publishing company to publish his two-part book titled The Star Invaders. Seven years later, after he had tried many submittals to large publishers, receiving just as many rejections, Steven's wife retrieved a story he wrote from the trash and encouraged him to continue it. He did so and eventually sold Carrie to Doubleday. Not all of us have the abilities of John Grisham or Steven King, but the point is that they both utilized a form of self-publishing in the beginning of their careers, which probably helped them polish their style, gave them some self-confidence, and most importantly, made them visible to the large publishers, who typically do not want to gamble on unknown authors. Many other famous authors had such humble self-publishing beginnings, such as: Mark Twain, Walt Whitman, Henry David Thoreau, Carl Sandburg, and Emily Dickinson just to name a few. If they can do it, you can too! And with the technology at Instantpublisher.com, self publishing could not be easier nor more affordable!
